Our Story

In 2003, Rory Allen moved back home to Buffalo from San Francisco to start Zoom, a graphic design and digital printing business in downtown Buffalo, NY. The printing business doesn't appear to be very sexy....and we can assure you that it is not. However, it is a business that we love for many reasons. It allows us to offer a great service that we can be proud of. We are able to deliver a consistent product that meets and often exceeds our clients expectations. Most of all it has allowed us to make a decent living and keep great relationships with our clients & vendors. At the end of the day, helping people and maintaining great relationships is what it's all about. Cheers!

About our Founder

Rory Allen is a prominent graphic designer, entrepreneur, and community figure in Buffalo, New York, best known as the founder and owner of ZoomCopy.com (also operating with their online store ZoomBuffalo.com), a graphic design and digital printing business that has become a staple in the local creative and business scene.  Born in 1976 in the United States, Allen grew up in the Buffalo area and attended St Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Amherst Central High School. He attended Cal State Hayward in the Bay Area where he studied business and graphic design. After spending time in San Francisco, he returned to his hometown in 2003 to launch ZoomCopy, bootstrapping the company into a successful venture specializing in printing, document scanning, and custom graphic work. Under Allen's leadership, Zoom Buffalo has thrived for over two decades, marking its 22nd anniversary in 2025 with a celebratory video reflecting on its growth and community impact.  The business adapted creatively during challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, shifting to new opportunities such as producing signage and keeping employees on board where possible.  Allen's work often intersects with Buffalo's vibrant arts and sports culture; he's renowned for creating popular Bills-themed yard signs, murals, and custom installations, including a Gord Downie mural on Hertel Avenue and collaborations on Goo Goo Dolls artwork. His designs frequently go viral among Bills Mafia fans, such as a 2023 Halloween projection of his daughter June dressed as quarterback Josh Allen on the Statler Building, and adaptive murals featuring players like Keon Coleman. Beyond business, Allen is deeply involved in the Buffalo community, embodying his core value of "helping people in ways they can't help themselves. In December 2023, after witnessing a family's vehicle catch fire, he pulled over to assist and later started a GoFundMe campaign to replace their car, raising awareness through local media. He's also an avid supporter of local sports, frequently posting about the Buffalo Bills and Sabres on social media.  In a lighthearted 2024 post, he even "announced" a run for president of the Buffalo Sabres amid fan frustrations. Allen collaborates with local artists and organizations, contributing to murals and veteran-focused merchandise that benefits groups like WNY Heroes. @buffalogoco @southtownscarl On a personal note, Allen is a devoted father to triplets, balancing family life with his entrepreneurial pursuits.  His passion for Buffalo's culture shines through in his work and online presence, where he shares creative content, sports enthusiasm, and community stories. As of 2025, Allen continues to innovate at Zoom Buffalo, supporting the city's artistic and entrepreneurial spirit while remaining a beloved figure in Western New York.
